Sneakers in Wall Street Journal: “A Case of Too Much Sole?”

Sunday, May 27th, 2007 | Posted in Sneaker Culture, Sneakers

Wall Street Journal A Case of Too Much Sole

Its no secret that word has gotten out that sneakers are a big deal and a big business. For the past couple of years major media outlets such as Time Magazine, NY & LA Times, and a handful of other publications have written articles about how “crazy” sneaker culture is or how big of a business it is.

The latest article written in a major publication was printed for this weekend’s edition of the Wall Street Journal. WSJ writer Jamin Brophy-Warrin brings up the interesting point (and pressing issue amongst collectors) is HOW limited is limited? Also, how limited is a limited shoe? It seems like every weekend there is at least either a “limited” or “exclusive” Jordan or Air Force 1 release. Even if each was limited, is 52 limited releases a year really that special?

Jamin also brings up the point that many collectors have moved onto indie and underground brands such as Japanese based Visvim and Sneaker Pimp Jason Bass’s JB Classics. It is definitely a great read. NiceKicks has scanned the article for your reading enjoyment.

Nike Dunk Hi Atmos Sample

We came through these pictures that shows you the upcoming Nike Dunk Hi Atmos NYC. Rumored that they are limited to 24 pairs worldwide as a hyperstrike release! The colorway is made up of two shades of purple, aqua, speckled green, and sangria laces with a number 2 printed on the toebox. And correct me if iam wrong, but it seems so that they are customized! Something to look forward to in June.

Unfortunately we don’t have right now more background on this shoe…

But we will update you with details as soon more informations become available.

Nike Air Max 1 Clot Sample

Probably this picture shows you the upcoming Nike Air Max 1 Clot 2. But its also possible if its only an old sample for the released version! But the Clot Crew dropped some bombs last Year with the “Kiss of Death” Air Max 1. They definitely stamped their authority in the Eastside of the earth when i came to sneakers. Spotted at Cliquenmove, where you also can get some more infos about the new book called Soleciety. They managed to speak to Mike from CLOT/ACU about that book project.

Unfortunately we don’t have much background on this shoe…

We will update you with details as soon more informations become available.

Nike Air Force 1 “Pilgrim” Bobbito Garcia

Saturday, May 26th, 2007 | Posted in Air Force 1, Sneaker News, Sneakers

Nike Air Force 1 Pigrim Bobbito Garcia

Rounding out the Nike Air Force 1 releases designed by Bobbito Garcia this is the third “Pilgrim” installment. This time the sneaker features the use of four different materials in leather, suede, mesh/canvas and patent leather. The inspiration for these sneakers came from a simplistic idea of a basketball uniform he once wore featuring an Almighty Force League shirt paired with light blue Bounce Magazine shorts. These will release in mid-June during the same time as the City Series New York releases of Nike Air Force 1’s.
