Nike Air Max 1 “Original Colorways” Quickstrike 2009 Retro

Nike Air Max 1 Original Colorways Quickstrike 2009 Retro

The pioneering shoe in the whole and massively popular Nike Air Max franchise, the Nike Air Max 1/87 is enjoying a renaissance in 2009 as we see it at the center of various new releases. From the updated hybrid known as the Nike Air Maxim 1 to this new throwback to the original, this year looks to be a good one for those who enjoy, simple, well-designed sneakers. The Nike Air Max 1 “Original Colorway” Retros seen here feature the OG red and blue versions and are available now at select retailers as a Quickstrike drop.

In 1987, Nike debuted a shoe that would forever change footwear. Designed for runners in need of maximum cushioning and stability, the Air Max 1 featured the largest air sole unit to date. For Tinker Hatfield and Nike Design the challenge was not only to build the best Air shoe of its age but also to allow athletes to understand what they were getting when they chose to run on Nike Air.

“The original goal was to put a shoe out there that had more cushioning than anything else previously made. The challenge became: how do we let runners and the general public see the Air Sole at work.”

– Tinker Hatfield, VP of Creative Design.

The Nike Air Max 1 represented a new generation of athletic footwear, breaking from the tradition of the way a sneaker was supposed to look like. By color choice alone, the Air Max 1 was unlike anything else on the market. The Air Max 1 introduced a Sport Red color rand that wrapped the AM1’s upper, radically challenging the aesthetic norm of the age, which called for athletic footwear to be neutral colored and mundane. The Air Max 1 not only started a revolution in Air, but equally important, a revolution in color.

Nike Dunk SB Low “Yellow Lobster” Concepts

Nike Dunk SB Low Yellow Lobster Concepts

About one in two million lobsters is blue due to a genetic defect that results in excessive protein production. Given their rarity and how hard it was to get a pair of Blue Lobsters, the Yellow Lobster might be even rarer. Appearing in nature at odds of 1 to 30 million, the yellow lobster looks to be the inspiration for Concepts’ latest collaboration with Nike SB.

At Saturday’s launch of the Concepts x Nike Dunk SB Low “Blue Lobster”, CNCPTS owner Tarik Hassan was spotted rocking a yellow makeup of the Lobster design. Rumour has it that these were limited to 36 pairs, with the tiny lot given to friends, family and some lucky folks in line. Make sure to stick with NewKicksOnTheBlog for clarification and updates, as this is sure to be a hot topic for a good while.

Nike Air Trainer SC “Black/Grey” Holiday 09

Nike Air Trainer SC Black/Grey Holiday 09

Back in the late 80’s and early 90’s, the Nike Air Trainer line was given a big boost by the “Bo Knows” ad campaign. Bo Jackson was one of the most electrifying athletes you could ever watch and as an athlete endorser for Nike, he lent instant credibility to the kicks he sported, not only for his dazzling efforts on the baseball and football field, but for his likable personality and superhuman aura. The Nike Air Trainer SC has since gone on to reach classic status in the sneaker world and with plenty of excitement surrounding their new Nike Trainer 1 model, Nike has decided to re-release the Nike Air Trainer SC this winter in a colorway that’s is still near and dear to Bo. The kicks he made famous will be returning in a crisp Black/Grey color scheme that is obviously influenced by Jackson’s days as an L.A. Raider. You can expect these super-fresh classics to hit shelves some time during the holiday ‘09 season. Stay tuned for specific release info and be sure to check out a bunch more pics after checking that link.
