Nike Dunk SB Low Pro “Patagonia” Black/Academy Blue

Nike Dunk SB Low Pro Patagonia Black/Academy Blue

This Nike Dunk SB Low Pro dropped last month as part of the May Nike SB collection and although they sport a pretty nice color scheme, they did not receive the level of fanfare enjoyed by many other Nike Dunk SB models. These kicks have been nicknamed Patagonia’s because of their similarities to the Patagonia brand’s logo color scheme. They feature a navy suede upper with a black leather mid panel and a light grey toe box and tongue. Additional accents are provided by a royal blue Swoosh and lining and a bright red hue on the tongue and heel. If these flew under your radar, be aware that you can still find some pairs floating around eBay, so move fast if you missed them.

Nike Air Hoop Structure “OG Air Structure Triax 91 Colorway”

Nike Air Hoop Structure OG Air Structure Triax 91 Colorway

The Nike Air Hoop Structure has been building a nice buzz lately thanks to some recent previews of a few upcoming colorways. While a couple of the Nike Air Hoop Structure color schemes seem to be based on some classic Air Jordan models, this pair that we first showed you all the way back in January adopts the palette from the original Nike Air Structure Triax 91. The result looks to be an overwhelming success, proving that the early 90’s running shoe colorway can be just as applicable to a hybrid basketball model almost 20 years later. So far, the Nike Air Hoop Structure has been receiving some very good feedback and with more colorways like this, the shoe figures to have a bright future ahead. These are expected to drop some time later this year as part of the holiday ‘09 collection, so stay tuned for the specific release details.

Nike Dunk SB Low Blue Lobster June 20th

Rumors have been swirling the past few days regarding a Nike Dunk SB Low “Blue Lobster” and today Concepts, the original collaborator, has announced that it will be releasing the Blue Lobster Dunk, the sneaker boutique’s second project with Nike Dunk SB Low “Blue Lobster” will drop at Concepts on Saturday, June 20, 2009, at 11:00 am.

The Blue Lobster Dunk serves as the sequel to last summer’s original Lobster Dunk, a Nike SB that first made waves on May 31, 2008. The first “Lobster” was shipped and promoted by the “Concepts Fishing Company” and came equipped with a poster, lobster claw rubber band, tee shirt and condiment box (replete with lobster shell cracker, fork, bib, wet nap and “butter” shoelaces) all embossed with the “Concepts Fishing Company” logo. The first 50 pairs sold were available in ultra-limited edition packaging, with all of the above-mentioned bundled up in an authentic Concepts wooden lobster trap.

This time around, it’s dangerous! The Nike Dunk SB Low “Blue Lobster” is a dangerous sub-breed of violent crustaceans that have been wrecking havoc on the otherwise tranquil waters of New England. Priced at $250.00 usd, the actual Blue Lobster sneaker will be bagged, tagged and sealed in a HAZMAT foam container. Each pair will be joined by an official Nike SB tee shirt, hang tag and lace lock. The first 200 pairs will come with 1 of 2 Concepts x Alien Workshop skate decks.

On June 20, while in line to pick up the Blue Lobster, Concepts will also be raffling off a pair of the original Lobster from 2008. Raffle tickets will be sold for $10 each and the drawing will be held immediately following the release.

After the launch of the Nike Dunk SB Low “Blue Lobster”, Concepts will host the Official Blue Lobster Party, featuring a number of special guests and performers including DJ Statik Selektah, Termanology and Masspike Miles. The “Brew Live Cruise” will take place on board the MV Freedom, docked at Rowes Wharf in Boston, MA. Boarding begins at 8:00 pm and the vessel leaves at 9:00 pm sharp! Admission is $30 and only offered to those that are 21+.

Michael Jordan + Spike Lee “Vintage Nike Air Jordan Ads”

Michael Jordan + Spike Lee Vintage Nike Air Jordan Ads

Back in the late 80’s and early 90’s, Nike gave the whole sneaker game a lesson in the importance of marketing. As if it wasn’t enough that Michael Jordan was well on his way to becoming the greatest basketball player ever, his sneakers were becoming legendary in their own right. Besides Mike’s on-court success and the fact that the Air Jordan line of sneakers was on another level of style and design brilliance from anything else on the market, there was some marketing genius at work creating a mystique around Michael and his kicks in a way that had never been executed so brilliantly within the realm of athlete endorsements.

Joining Michael in many of these promotional endeavors was Spike Lee (a.k.a. Mars Blackmon), at the time an up and coming film director with a passion for Air Jordan sneakers. The two-man team of Spike and Mike partnered up for a series of commercials and print ads for the sneakers that were not only successful at the time, but have become infamous as some of the most effective and enduring ad campaigns of all time. After the jump, you can take a stroll down memory lane with a nice retrospective of the Michael Jordan/Mars Blackmon era and the marketing revolution that it helped to spark.

Nike Air Force 1 Low Premium “Dark Obsidian/Varsity Maize-White”

Wednesday, June 10th, 2009 | Posted in Air Force 1, Sneaker News, Sneakers

Nike Air Force 1 Low Premium Dark Obsidian/Varsity Maize-White

A similar Black/Red/White version of this Nike Air Force 1 Low Premium dropped and was well-received thanks to the simple color scheme and the variety of materials used on the upper. Now a new pair has emerged that uses a similar design, but with a few small changes. Like the other Nike Air Force 1 model, these kicks use a solid dark obsidian upper and solid White midsole/outsole with a combination of mesh and premium leather on the upper, but this time around, the mesh is only used for the mid panels. Also, the accents have been switched from Varsity Red to Varsity Maize, giving the shoe a look all its own despite the other similarities. There is no confirmed info on a U.S. release date, but stay tuned for all the latest and be sure to check out some more images of these kicks by checking out that link.

Nike Dynasty Hi “White/Dark Navy” Spring 2010

Wednesday, June 10th, 2009 | Posted in Nike Dynasty, Sneaker News, Sneakers

Nike Dynasty Hi White/Dark Navy Spring 2010

The Nike Dynasty High first debuted in 1981 with a simpler leather/mesh design, but in 1986, Nike released an all leather version with an ankle strap like the pair shown above. The Nike Dynasty Hi has never received much sneakerhead fanfare, but maybe that’s because it’s never been re-released until now. Nike will be bringing back a Retro version of the Dynasty High for the upcoming spring 2010 season and from the looks of it, it should have a pretty good shot at a nice comeback. This version features an Dark Navy/White leather upper with a classic-looking White ankle strap. Look for these to drop some time down the road and we’ll be sure to keep you up to date with the latest info.

Nike Air Max “Spring 2010 Collection”

Nike Air Max Spring 2010 Collection

In addition to a couple of old dependable favorites, Nike’s Spring 2010 Air Max roster will also bring back a more underappreciated style as well. The Nike Air Max 95 and Nike Air Max 97 are no strangers to Retro releases and will both be released in two colorways. The classic Nike Air Max 95 “Neon” will be back for another go-around and will be joined by a Grey/Silver/Royal Blue version and the Nike Air Max 97 will be returning in Red/Metallic Silver and solid Black colorways. Joining its more popular Air Max siblings, 2010 will also see a comeback from the Nike Air Max Triax 94 LE in four new colorways, and although it may not have the loyal following of the others, based on these preview pics, these kicks probably have a good shot at a successful return campaign. Stay tuned for more images and specific release info later in the year, and for now, you can check out a bunch more pics by checking that link.

Nike Air Jordan VI (6) “Black/Deep Infrared” Sample

Saturday, June 6th, 2009 | Posted in Air Jordan, Sneaker News, Sneakers

Nike Air Jordan VI (6) Black/Deep Infrared Sample

Earlier this week, we saw one of the dopest Nike Air Jordan VII (7) samples ever crawl out of the woodwork. Here is an edition of the previous year’s edition that never saw the light of retail. When they released back in 2000, the Nike Air Jordan VI (6) Retro featured a mostly black design, with infrared touches framing the Air bubble, on the heel strap, tongue and lacelock. This sample edition adds the signature red hue to the forefoot midsole as well as the heel’s “Nike Air” logo. Check out the last picture by checking that link for a good comparison (the bottom is the “original” retro from 2000). These are already nearing a thousand on eBay, so act fast.
