Nike Air Jordan 1 AJKO Retro White/Varsity Red–Black 402297-101

Word association game? A sneakerhead would respond to “1985″ with “Nike Air Jordan 1″ with unflinching speed and without a second thought. There is no shame in that; the Nike Air Jordan 1 is the shoe that started the sneaker-collecting craze and the constant release of retros keeps up hungry and wanting more. Amid all the Nike Air Jordan releases we are expecting this year, get ready for the knock-out punch that will top them all; the return of the Nike Air Jordan 1 AJKO.

After a quarter-century after its original release, the AJKO rejoins us donning the same canvas upper that made it the standout that it was. The reincarnation of Nike Air Jordan 1 KO is almost spot-on with the materials and AJKO Wings logo, but there are a few minor details that might cause some stir. The Jumpman logo has replaced the OG Nike Air logo, but that is expected with all Nike Air Jordans post Nike-Jordan Brand split. The bottom sole, however, takes on a Nike Dunk/Air Jordan 1 sole, and the midsole is given the dirty treatment, as seen on Nike’s vintage rehashings like the Nike Vandal Nylon VNTG. For the Jordan heads out there who may not be familiar AJKO, consider these the ultimate retro of 2010.

Nike Air Jordan III (3) Retro White/Black Unreleased 2006 Sample

This Nike Air Jordan III Retro looks like it belongs alongside this year’s Jordan Motorsports pack (the first to be released to retail, in the six year series), but is actually from 2006. It has hand written numbering on the outer heel (count/count) and a single digit on the inner heel that might represent different componentry. Doesn’t really matter, though, since you are not going to wear them anyway. This size 9 sample is available for your collection on eBay.

Nike Air Max 1 “Original Colorways” Quickstrike 2009 Retro

Nike Air Max 1 Original Colorways Quickstrike 2009 Retro

The pioneering shoe in the whole and massively popular Nike Air Max franchise, the Nike Air Max 1/87 is enjoying a renaissance in 2009 as we see it at the center of various new releases. From the updated hybrid known as the Nike Air Maxim 1 to this new throwback to the original, this year looks to be a good one for those who enjoy, simple, well-designed sneakers. The Nike Air Max 1 “Original Colorway” Retros seen here feature the OG red and blue versions and are available now at select retailers as a Quickstrike drop.

In 1987, Nike debuted a shoe that would forever change footwear. Designed for runners in need of maximum cushioning and stability, the Air Max 1 featured the largest air sole unit to date. For Tinker Hatfield and Nike Design the challenge was not only to build the best Air shoe of its age but also to allow athletes to understand what they were getting when they chose to run on Nike Air.

“The original goal was to put a shoe out there that had more cushioning than anything else previously made. The challenge became: how do we let runners and the general public see the Air Sole at work.”

– Tinker Hatfield, VP of Creative Design.

The Nike Air Max 1 represented a new generation of athletic footwear, breaking from the tradition of the way a sneaker was supposed to look like. By color choice alone, the Air Max 1 was unlike anything else on the market. The Air Max 1 introduced a Sport Red color rand that wrapped the AM1’s upper, radically challenging the aesthetic norm of the age, which called for athletic footwear to be neutral colored and mundane. The Air Max 1 not only started a revolution in Air, but equally important, a revolution in color.

Nike Air Jordan 1 Retro Mid Hare Detailed Pics

Having already dropped a slew of colorways, the Jordan camp shows no signs of stopping as 2009 will featured more renditions of the iconic Nike Air Jordan 1 than ever before. This latest mock up actually challenges the classic Nike Air Jordan VII Hare, borrowing its colorway and mix of materials for a full blown transfer onto a new platform. Along with the vibrant print colored tongue, the kicks feature an Air Bunny logo as well as “HARE” detailing on the tongue and heel. A release is scheduled for April 11th, 2009 with a price tag of $110 USD. In 1991, Jordan Brand released the Air Jordan VII (7) - Hare and in 2008 they brought back the sought after style for the Air Jordan 7/16 Countdown Pack. With Easter right around the corner, another Hare themed Air Jordan will be releasing, but it is not the Air Jordan VII, instead it is the Air Jordan I (1) Retro. The sneakers are outfitted with a colorway consisting of white, light graphite and true red. Aside from the colorway both models share, this pair of Nike Air Jordan I also sports an Air Jordan VII design on the tongue with a silhouette of Bugs Bunny and Hare written under him.
